My son replaced the solenoid on his 97 F-250 heavy duty because it was clicking. After we trouble shot we found a bad starter. Problem is he didn't mark the solenoid wires and when we hook them up the way we think they go we have no power. Any ideas. Fuses are fine and batteries are charged with clean terminials.
The post closest to the firewall has one wire, red, looks like 12 gauge that runs down into the wiring harness with the large single red wire from the other post on the solenoid.
The post closest to the battery has three large wires with fusible links (looks like two wires attached to the same terminal about 3" long that go to a single large wire at the other end - three of these stacked) then one red wire about 6 gauge or 4 gauge, a bit thicker than a pencil then one red wire about 14 gauge (may be aftermarket for the brake controller). The actuator wire to the small screw type terminal toward the top is red with black or blue tracer but has a terminal on the end that is set to push over the end of the small screw.
