I have a 91 Ranger short box with the 3.0L V6. I am going to be looking for
a 2 machine snowmobile trailer soon and am not sure of the towing capacity
of my truck.
Does anybody know what the max towing rating is and does anyone
currently tow a double trailer with two sleds on it? Is this too much weight
for the 3.0L or am I still within a safe towing range for this truck?
Look in the owners manual for towing capacity. If you do not have one, post the rear axle ratio and transmission type and somebody will look it up for you.
The stock bumper (at least mine) is only class 1, meaning 2000lb trailer, 200lb tongue. If it all possible, it would be best for you to install a receiver hitch setup rated at least class 2 (3500lb trailer). Even with that in mind though, I doubt two sleds would weigh more than a ton...would they?
