If you search you will find several threads on this. Personally I've only done one oil change on my 05 V/10, and after researching here and elsewhere I used Motorcraft 5/20 and a motorcraft filter. The oil is a synthetic blend. I bought it at my local Autozone.
Motorcraft 5/20 and Motorcraft filter, and probably will as long as I own the truck. My local Wal-Mart has it the cheapest. $1.42 qt. As much as I hate shopping at wally world they do have the cheapest automotive products around here.

I will be doing my first oil change on my new truck tomorrow and I will be using Schaeffers 5W-20 synthetic blend. Also Wix oil filter. You will be fine running oils such as Schaeffers or Motorcraft or Mobil -1. All are quality oils !
go back to walley world and get the ford fl820s filter and use it while under warrenty. just a play safe hint as ford is getting rough on motors failing. and after market items
This completely blows me away. My Dad just brought me back 2 cases of Motorcraft 5-20 from his winter home in Yuma Arizona and It is a different oil than the Motorcraft 5-20 you get in Canada. I have both in front of me and I went out in the garage and poured a small amount on a clean piece of metal. The US product is noticably lighter in color. The US brand is called Motorcraft 5-20 premium synthetic blend and the Canadian product is called Motorcraft 5-20 Super Premium. They are both rated for API SL service but they have completely different specification numbers. I believe the US product is probably a higher quality so that is what my V10 is going to get from here on in and I will use up the Canadian stuff in my Honda. I truly believed they would be the same product until I did my little comparison test.
The oil that Ford service calls for 5W20 synthelic blend is made by Texaco or Conoco. It's very very good oil. Here in Phoenix, that is the regular service oil at the dealer quick lubes. That and the high quality Motorcraft FL 820S oil filter is hard to beat.
You can find Motorcraft oil and filters and better auto parts stores. I stay away from Walmart for anything. The company treats and pays their workers like we live in a third world country. Only upper management shares in the wealth of the Walton family.
I second your opinions, like your styles. Corps. control the puppet--just look at the appointees jambed thru. Mobil 1, 10-30 myself....go 15-50 over 90* and long pulls. FYI
