Head Bolts

I need to retorque the headbolts on my 73 460(from a lincoln), but there is no way to get around the rocker arms. What is the easiest way to remove the rockers to do this?

Thanks

Why are you retorquing? Most of todays head gaskets don't require it.

well, basically because when I bought this engine from a friend, I was told it was ready to go. So I did not check to make sure that anything was torqued correctly. A couple weeks later, I have developed a leak between the block and head. So I stuck a torque wrench on it, and found out that they were nowhere close to what they should be(the bolt I stuck it on was only 60lb-ft). So I wanted to torque them down correctly before I something else blows.

A very short socket with an extension should do the trick. A few years ago I cut down a set of old sockets for jobs like this - and I used old sockets because cutting them down also got rid of the damaged ends too, allowing me to "recycle" junk.

I cut them down to about 7/16 of interior length, not quite 1/2".
