CAM PHASER & PCM
Just got a new '05 Screw Lariat F150 and have 500 miles on it and as has been reported I've got the Cam Phaser knock on the passenger side. I've found some posts on this but would some of you be kind enough to let me know if dealers have the "fix" on this or is the "fix" still coming....and does it fix the problem. Also, I've heard talk of having dealers update the PCM but have no idea what the update is or for. Forgive my ignorance as I'm a newbie, but willing to learn! You all were a great bunch in coaching my buy experience, but I'm back for service this time.
Thanks in advance,
John

I too am new to this.
I have the same problem with my new F150 Lariat Supercab built 1-22-05.
The dealer put new cam phasers in and it helped, but it did not solve the problem.
Ford supposedly has a new fix coming out the second week of May, so it is hard to say if that works. I have read in other forums that the current fix is not working.
PCM update is a software update for the "Powertrain Control Module" chances are you are already current. My dealer told me that my truck had the most up to date software for the PCM and the TCM (Transmission Control Module).
That is all I have been able to find out so far.
Good luck on yours. Mines not fixed yet..................
I believe you are correct with the next fix. I finally got in touch with a great service manager at my local dealer and he confirmed that Ford is about to release a so-called "final" fix for this problem as the previous ones did not work. He told me to sit tight and wait until they know what the proceedure is going to be and have parts on hand. Mine has gotten progressively worse over the last few weeks, damn thing sounds like a diesel. From talking with him, I know this has been a nightmare for the Ford and the dealers with people bringing back trucks with 500 miles on them and demanding their money back or a new truck.
