Need Alternator Help Please!!!!
Have an 85 f150 alternator was not charging at all. Hooked the battery wire and field wire up now it charges too much, will weld cable end to battery if you touch it while running,sparks bad too. If you take the cable off while running, it shorts out various things inside cab. It is charging at about the 3/4 mark on the guage now. It has the latest wire harness for those models, not the old one like the 78 & 83 models. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

The voltage regulator is located on the fender next to the selinoid. I changed it a couple times, it keeps shorting it out and making the field wire hot even when key is off. Not driving it until I figure out what is wrong. I disconnect battery until I work on it. Still need Help.
