So to be quick and clear...
I cant use the same tranny, clutch, bell housing or motor mounts to run a Carbed 351W in place of my M? Also all the accessories to go with it?
You might want to check it out I am pretty sure that a 351w 351m 351c 400 are all displacments in that the bellhousings and motor mounts interchange. tony
The 351M and 400 both use the same bellhousings that the 429/460's use. As for mounts, they use ones unique unto them. There were some small bell 400's made in the early 70's but those are scarce as hen's teeth.
if you are talking about the small bell 400s don't worry about it, the odds are you will never see one in your life, and I gaurentee you won't find one in a truck they are supposedly even more rare than a true boss 9
as for the small bell, how would a guy be able to tell the difference between the two and what make and models did they come with
If you know what either pattern looks like, the difference should be obvious. They supposedly came in Torino's with FMX transmissions, but don't quote me on that, I've never seen one either. They used to be hot with the Pantera guys.
Ok well i think I will just give that 351W to a friend of mine and I will rebuild the 351M back up. By the way...would I really have gained much by switching to the Windsor or wouldnt I be able to tell a whole lot?
Stroke that 351M to a 400 ( if it's not that already) add an RV type cam, and either a Weiand or Edelbrock 4 bbl intake and a good 600 carb, headers and you'll have the power that 351W could have added over the 351M.
