Cut out the $4.50 Marlboros, the $3.50 coffees and the $1.29-a-pint bottled water and gas becomes very affordable.

Went and bought an '84 VW Cabriolet last week for commuting. Just can't keep doing these $95 fill-ups.

Well beermaker, i guess those prices are all dependant on where you live, but unless your talking of California gas is pretty much within .10 -.15 cents anywhere you go.
Where I live Marlboro's are going for 2.60 a pack or 23.00 per carton. A cup of coffee from Dennys is 1.29. Starbucks is 1.99 for a 20 oz cup if that's your flavor. Bottled water does go for about 1.29 or so, but I don't spend money on bottled water anyway. My own brand of cigarettes goes for 14.00 per carton or a 1.60 per pack.
Gas around here is anywhere between 2.25 - 2.35 per gallon depending on where you go. My daily dose of coffee and smokes has'int changed in cost over the last two
years - 2.70 per day. My fuel cost has gone up over 50% in the last year alone.

So I guess if I cut out my only two vices - smokes and coffee every morning before work, I can afford a bit over an extra gallon of fuel, real big difference there,...no thanks. And for what it's worth, I don't spend any money on booze either, but I always make sure I got a few bucks to give my daughter for a movie on the weekend or some clothes shopping.

Where I purchase my fuel it just went over 2.00 (2.09 up from 1.94 in one day). If I smoked I would be cutting that for sure since a pack of Marborlos go for 5.75 a pack and what ever flavor coffee you perfer is about 3.50. I guess shipping those smokes and coffee beans is getting expesive these days.

If I drive 10 miles west Premium is $2.36. Drive 10 miles east, Premium is $2.21. How does that happen?

OPEC said they were changing the price they were wanting to get now from $28 to $50 since $28 is no longer a realistic number. So I really dont expect prices to get any lower than they are now. They are currently at ~$2.12 here and I'd be surprised if they ever fell below $2.00 again.
