Well decided to finally order the airraid tube for my 04 f150 xlt 5.4l. For some reason and i am not complaining but they are selling for $68.00 with free shipping. The 4.6l is still $99.00, they same as the 5.4l a while back. When i saw that pice i had to do it. Will let you guys know my opinion once it is installed. Should have it middle of next week.
I put mine on about 6-7 weeks ago and love it. No need to mess with oiling cloth filters, just use stock. In fact go for the NapaGold/Wix for even more airflow. You definitely feel more torque and power. Also the MPG was low at first (14.4 or so) but has steadily climbed over those weeks to 15.6 - 15.7. That's not a huge jump over my old number, but in these high gas price days I am very happy about this development. Good luck and have fun!!
.ru? You know that's Russia don't you? Airaid redesigned the tube on the 2004+ intake because it caused a lot of problems with engine ping and bad air/fuel ratios especially when used with a tuner. If its too good to be true, it probably is. I'm willing to bet its a left-over first design or a bootleg.
I'm debating between a full partitioned cone filter/intake tube setup and just the MIT. Are there substantial gains to be had with the cone filter over the stock airbox, or does the performance all come from the intake tube (AKA the MIT)? If there is not much of a difference I'd just assume stick with the stock airbox.

I went through the same decision process and ended up just getting the tube. There is a bit more hp gain with the cone filter types, but not worth the hassle of having to clean and re-oil them every few months. And, if you go with the NapaGold or Wix filter a stock replacement, you get very close to the same air flow as the cloth fancy dancy type: check here for tests: http://home.usadatanet.net/~jbplock/ISO5011/SPICER.htmhttp://www.bobistheoilguy.com/airfilter/airtest1.htm And there are other tests out there showing similar results. Everyone needs to decide what to do. The good thing about the MIT is you can keep the stock setup and then later add the Airraid cloth/clean type filters if you don't like Wix.
Sounds good. The True Flow has the pipe, and also comes with a foam filter, so I won't have to deal with oil. I believe its just a clean-it-put-it-back type thing. That way I'll get the best of both worlds. Thanks for the insight!
