So how's everyone like'n 70 mph? Appear a lot of folks have the initial jitters about speeding.... I see a lot of people going UNDER 70 now. I bet that won't last tho... it'll be 70+ soon enough!
Seems like everyone has their own rules - speed limit +4, or +7, etc.
I saw it for the first time yesterday, traffic was pretty much all going 73... there isn't much interstate around here, and the 4 lanes apparently don't get it, just the verified interstate...
Still 80 or higher on I-380 between C.R and Ia. City!!! But right on the southern edge of Cedar rapids where the speed limit goes from 55 to 70 people are real cautious. Police have been staking out that stretch pretty hardcore the last few weeks.........
heck I haven't changed my speed at all on I80, and it seems like I am getting passed less than I was a month ago. seems to me people are going slower now than they were before
I'm scared. I'm seen a couple smokey bears (black or brown and yellows) on the gravel roads now since this thing passed. I never use to see them before maybe 1 a week. now its like 4+ a day. they must be pushing for new cop cars up here.
I can't say the coppers have been enforcing the new speed limit any. I got onto I80 there by Williamsburg, and having my usual fun with letting the smoke roll as I pull onto the interstate, had it upwards of 80mph and people were still rolling past me pretty hard. Noticed most of them were out-of-staters, maybe they didn't get the memo??
Coming in to DM from the West at 6AM - Lots of 66-68 mph commuters and just a FEW 70 or over. Really strange.... actually seems like they're going SLOWER than when the limit was 65.
Over here people do 80-85 all the time. Sometimes even 90+. The speed limit here is 75. Glad to see yours is now 70. That whole 75 down to 65 thing was really tough do to
G, I always thought it was really tough going west outta Iowa! LOL.
Actually I have a brother that lives in Omaha and we take the kids to the zoo there from time to time when we visit. There was a pretty good show on last week about the Dessert Dome...
Man, what really ticks me off is the fact that the fines were nearly doubled for ALL tickets in all areas...not just the 5% of roads where the speed limit was increased. May have to take out a small loan to pay off the fines next time I get stopped. Vilsac is a PUKE...sorry guys. Thanks a lot for NOTHING!!!! NOTHING I SAY!
Well, the ticket thing is all about money anyway, might have originally been about safety, but any more it is all money. The seat belt BS is all a money making scheme, if the government really wanted us to be belted up, the car would have a starter interlock that prevented even starting without it being hooked up and things like that, same with the speeding laws, they could set the computers nowadays to max out in a certain range, but they don't.
So did you get one, or just know someone that did? or just have a close call....
Everyone was too focused on the speed limit, and they slipped the fine addition under the table on us...
No...no tickets in a while. Pukes! but I drive 90 miles ONE WAY to work so I usually see at least two troopers a day...and it is all on 2 lane roads....55 stinks.
After living in South Dakota for 8 years and having 65 on most main 2 lanes, I'm having to adjust my brain to the slower speeds... and to make it worse, my truck likes to run at 65 the most...it'll creep up there without my realizing it until I look down and see it....
I had a 92 s-10 with a 4.3l and 5 speed....it just like to run 65-70...that was the sweet spot and that is where it wanted to be...slower and it lugged and I got a ton of tickets in that little sob.
you should see my driving record! oh, the shame of it!
My 77 F250...now, that is a little different story. I don't have to worry about speeding in the tank.
Your record can't be much worse than mine used to be... I lost my license for too many tickets in a year back in 1990...7 in one year... now I average maybe 1 or 2 a year...
