86, 302 ,150-surging /stalling/pinging

--Seems like like we just can't get her right. New remanuf. engine 27,000 miles ago-Due to this kind of problem before we have replaced everything, between now and engine replacement> Idle control, tps,smog pump ,distributer,computer, pvc sensor,-had new wires and plugs with engine replacement. Etc. (trannny rebuilt too about same time). Hubby is putting another TPS on as we speak, lmade no difference.. We also , thanks to FE put on a new fuel filter last year as it solved a loss of power ,chugging, etc. we were having.Says vacumn checks out.
Sometimes, usually 1st start, it will go into high idle , come down, surge up, come down maybe a couple times , then, stall. It sometimes does this sitting at a loooong stop light too. I pulled out onto a road the other day, and it stalled wout warning. The AC was on. Has gotten worse since the AC has been on this last week,(pollen season.)
Had started Pinging a couple weeks ago uphill or with AC on . Put valve cleaner in tank. Went away ,then started again .
Had similiar problem last year, husband says he "took stuff off" Put stuff aback on, ran great, then it degrades over time. Says seems to run great , till the computer figures out its getting gas, then screws it up.
Also idleing rough. Next he is checking plugs.( Chiltons and local mechanics said, vacumn, TPS, Idel control.All check out. )
Sent me for plugs and wires(they were new with engine( but parts guys talked me out of them).
TPS didn't change anything and he told me we just ate the 32.00 as he isn't spending an hour taking it off again....
After cooling down, checking plugs again--any recommendations if we replace them as to which ones are best or not to get......
Stallin, surging at idle, pinging, wobbling of engine at idle..............
Ford, Fix or Repair Daily, is beginning to come true

Check the egr system. If it is opening at idle or sticking it will cause the surging and stalling at idle.

Cool

He checked the Egr, cleaned it, it was working, had replaced the sensor a bit ago.
timing ,he'd played with--but it is electronic Ignition--It won't run if you set it to the specs, they found that before. It has to be 4-5 degrees off. He told me not to tell that as everyone would jump on it, but , when they put the new engine in they found that you couldn't set it to specs. And he tried moving it around, didn't make much difference. Someone also said the computer would just reset it.
He put the 2nd fuel filter on. We'd put one on months ago, with a power loss on acceleration. He noticed the fuel in the filter was 'foggy' not clear like gas usually is.....Seemed odd to him. We wonder if I may have gotten bad gas the last couple weeks...
He is going to try the oxygen sensor again tomorrow. Then I may try some Zebol or something to try and up the octane .... but it used to run great on regular before.
Drove it tonight, rough , pinging, wants to stall....

Wow Ellery, I'm not alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!
86 F-150 EFI, New engine and every F&^$&* thing else! Just like yous but mine only stalls on start-up. Engine still has the shakes. Even put in a new computer, (If you want to call it that!)
I'll find it, but it may take time!
Do you have any problem codes?
I have none, yet it aint right!

if you cant make the engine run right on the correct timing, check the valve timing.

Thur. update

To reamer. It did all that stuff at first-- but husband (I am actually ellerys mom and it is my truck )--Mechanic said it takes computer a while to straighten out. well he has "put stuff off and on" for a while.
Had this problem before did all the stuff, then too. Put oxy. sensor on again, air mangement valve, distrubuter, cap and rotor. Ignition switch.
can't adjust valves--
We are now going to get new plugs ,wires, Cap and rotor. and some octane boost. There is some pitting on the rotor, the plugs look ok, but will replace them anyway.
