Hi,
I'm new to the FE forum, as I just bought a new (old) 352. OK, I admit, it's not a truck...it's a Merc. Hope that's alright.
It's a '61 Monterey. I have shop manuals for my other old cars, but haven't had a chance to get one for this yet. So could anyone tell me what the cranking compression test for a '61 2v 352 (8.9:1 comp. ratio, I believe) should be? Ths is the 220 hp motor, as I understand it. Thanks...I want to check the compression tomorrow, and won't be able to get a manual by then. - Jim
Sorry for the late reply, but I was out of town.. Anything in the 95-120 lb range should probably be good. What you are looking for is consistency across the board, within about 5% of each other.
Thanks Mike. I've done the test and I've interpreted the results as satisfactory. I'm still looking forward to getting my shop manual. I've gotten my last 2 shop manuals on ebay, and have been pleased, but any other suggestions for places to get shop manuals are welcomed.
