Hi everyone,
I'd like to get some headers for my truck I've got a 85 F-150 302 V-8. But the problem I keep coming back to is, what is a good brand name of headers? I got Hedman, Hooker, and Thorley. does anyone else know of any good reliable brand name headers?
thanks,
nick

Motorcraftsman,
Thanks for your reply, is there any set that you particularly like or run? I want the best for my engine and wanna go with brand names. And what do you think a reasonable price for those headers would be?
thanks,
nick

well for your truck, edelbrock would be the best being they make a wide variety of smog legal headers, and they are good quality, but they are "pricey", hedman headers are a reasonably priced header. summit ang jegs headers are usually priced cheap being they are store brand, hooker by most i believe they are most popular, many racers use them, ford motorsports are nice but they mostly are produced for 5.0 mustangs, pacesetter does produce for v8s but are $$$$$ and are more likely to have headers for 4 and 6 cylinders. stainless steel and hot jet coated headers will outlast any coventional steel header,
in my opinion i would go for the hedmans they make a good header for my inline six, hope my info helps you.

no problem, ive got a larger proplem now, i noticed water dripping between my head and block , which concluded i had a blown head gasket, i took the head off today, and now i cant decide if i should have a valve job done before i reassemble, ive noticed minro missfireing and rough idle maybe this will do it.

Well guys,
I've found a set of DynoMax Jet Coated headers supposedly for my truck that are 209.95 or somewhere along there. And my dad looked at them and said that they look good and I should still wait and check out all my options. So as of right now I'm still not sure what to do. I still wanna find some good hooker headers. So I've really narrowed it down to DynoMax, Hooker, Pacesetter. And TallPaul, do you have a website where I could look at Jardine headers?
thanks,
nick

Also after looking at the exhaust systems, click their home page for discussion of who the Jardines are. Their systems may be better in that you get the whole enchalada--headers, pipes, and muffler--all presumably designed to work together.

I used the Summit headers. I believe they are made by Flowtech. And they've been on the truck almost a year now and the only problem I've had was a set of blown out / cooked header gaskets.

All in all, they're not bad for $159.95 now mind you theyr'e not coated or anything, but they are good headers.

Just a thought

The summit headers I used are for an 87-96 Model with the 5.0, I don't know if they'll cross over to your truck or not, but you could check them out. 1-800-230-3030 is the number for Summit racing.

I used the Shorty Truck Headers.

I know when I put them on my truck they made on heck of a difference!

LAST EDITED ON 25-Nov-00 AT 10:23 AM (EST)[p]hotrodford_88,
Well man, the weird thing about my truck is that its a 85 body with a new crate 302 it was put in by the owner before me, and in 98 he put it in, it's got 23K on it now. That one thing that has confused me too, would I be able to put the headers on years 87-96? I'd like to know?!
thanks,
nick

P.S.
What is the major difference between Painted Headers and Jet Coated Ceramic or whatever? what do they do thats so much better? I mean i don't care if my headers get ugly colors i'm not gonna show them off, i just want them to add extra HP and TQ.thanks
