Changing Gas Pedal

So I decided to upgrade my gas and brake pedals ,2000 F-250 CC 4X4 v-10 auto, to the Harley addition ones you have all seen on ebay. The Brake pedal went on reasonably ok, took some work but it eventually fit. The gas pedal was a different story. After breaking the stock pedal into several pieces so I could see what I was working with, I realised there is a pin holding the pedal in place on the throttle arm. The Pin appears to have been pressed into place. All our efforts to remove the pin yielded nothing. Finially decided to cut the pin off on both sides, grind it smooth, and drill a new hole through the throttle arm. Then we mounted the new pedal with a bolt/nut operation using the new drilled hole. I list there here in case anyone out there is thinking of swapping pedals and thinks it will be a 10 minute job.

Now that I am done yakking, is there an easy way to remove the pin in the throttle arm that I did not try?
