Polishing Tips

I have a 68 F100 with a real bad tarnished grill. Is there any way of polishing it. I have tried turtle wax and other things as well but they dont seem to work. Any advice is greatly needed!

Your grill has been anodized, this is an electric process that is like clear coat. It can be removed with caustic agents like Red Devil Lye or specialty products.

Once the anodizing is removed you can polish the metal. You might want to Google "anodizing" and read up on it first. You will need a buffer to polish with, it can't be done by hand.

I think if you will Google anodizing and read up on it a little, you would have a much better understanding of what you are dealing with.

Better than I can splain anyways.

Give it a try, but I suspect you will be looking for a dip before long. The anodizing is pretty tuff to remove.

I thought when things get anodized it is "all the way through" the metal not just a coating on the oustide. or are there different types?
