Concrete Slab

A slab 30 x 26 4" thick, does 1014 cu ft sound right? 30 X 26 = 780
780x1.3, 4" being 1/3 of a foot.

Length X Width X Height / 27 = cubic yards.

30ft x 26ft x 0.33ft (4" being 1/3rd of a foot) = 257.4 cubic feet

257.4/27 = 9.53333 cubic yards of concrete. Order 10 yards and run your entrance forms out front and use the extra for a entrance pad if you have more than enough.

Good idea.

Most trucks carry 10 yards, and I've often seen them come up "short", at least by my calculations. If you are off a bit on your measurements, you may need more concrete. Tell them in advance that you may need another yard, but that you have measured carefully.
If your slab is really 3.5" thick, that's 8.4 yards, so you would have a little extra. If it's 4" and you have low spots (more than 4") you could come up short with 10 (4 1/4" deep would take 10 1/4 yards). Just make sure that 11th yard will be available so you don't have to have a cold joint.

Err -

3X3X3=
3X9=27 (cubic feet in a cubic yard)

30X26X.33=
780X.33=257 cubic feet

257/27=9.533 cubic yards

It checks.

Doh me !

I suppose I should have got the sq footage correct from the start.

780 divided by 80 = 9.75 cubic yards.

For Canadian's it is 1 cubic meter of 4" thick concrete covers 100 sq ft.

Actually:

30x26=780
780/3=260 (Divide by 3 because 4" is 1/3 of a foot) or multiply by 1/3. 1/3 should be .3333333333 not .3
269/27=9.63

9.63 cu. yd.

Yeah, but 780 (30X26) divided by 81 is 9.629 cubic yards
