Hi everyone, I am almost done with my first spark plug change and I need a little help. While I was a good boy and wrote down the wire numbers on the edis end of the wires, I failed to do it for the drivers side of the engine ends. I can't get the correct order for the # 4, 5, and 6 wires. On the drivers side of the engine, what is the order?
Oh man, am I brain dead or what?!?! My nerves were so frazzled, I forgot to list my vehicle! My apologies to everyone. Thanks for the reply Cowboy, luckily I figured it out before coming back to the computer. I had crossed up #4 and #6 on my 2000 Ranger 3.0 Flex Fuel. I put in the Autolite PP's. My old Motorcraft PP's (Factory-installed) were worn out. 3 of them had gaps pf over .60. One of them was over .80!
Shouldn't I get better gas mileage now? I'm hoping so....gas here in Greenville SC is at 2.16 and heading north. Thanks Cowboy, I swear I'll try harder next time.
I did the same job today as well and found the same issue with the gaps. Cylinders 1-3 were about 60 and 4-6 were at 70 and thats with only 39k miles on them. The most interesting thing was the wear, the center electrode was worn on 4-6 and the other was worn on 1-3, a direct relationship with the ignition system flow. I went with Motorcraft finewire, one heat range colder.
