97 Explorer Auto Headlight off question

97 Explorer Auto Headlight off question
We bought a 97 Explorer last year and are really happy with it. When we first got it the headlights went off when you turned them off. Suddenly now, they stay on for about three minutes - then go off. I've looked through the manual and have not found out how to change this time, or just turn it off.
Am I missing something simple?

Thanks also. Just got this 97 explorer so I don’t have a manual. Wife came home and told me headlights won’t go off, went out to check them and in about 3 minutes they were off, started wondering now what F%@K. One less problem tonight.
