ok heres the situation, after digging into my gp/starting problem a little further i found that the wires on on the drivers side, furthest back from the grill were not on the gp. Does anyone out there know what the repercushion to this would be?
i did not notice any ill effects while driving (maybe a little more smoke then normal but not enough to alarm me.I dont know whar cylinder number that is.
thanks chris
assuming you haven't had electrical problems due to shorting,, the only ill effect i know of is that the disconnected GP will of course be inoperable. pretty sure that can affect your entire GP system, BTW.
the GP's are only hot when they are needed at start-up, 15 seconds or less. they do not operate like spark plugs - once you've left your driveway & are on the road, the GP's are not operating at all, so you wouldn't notice anything odd.
your smoke is fuel related, i'm sure. timing, return lines, etc...
The gp disconnected will simulate a blown GP and shorten the WTS light time and cause harder starts.
Cylinder numbers are assigned 1,3,5,7 on the left(passenger) bank from front of truck to back, and 2,4,6,8 on the driver's side, front to back. Firing order is 1,2,7,3,4,5,6,8.
