fuel surge

I have a 2001 F250 7.3 4 x 2 crew cab, which has a fuel feed surge that seems to give a slight hesitation everyfew seconds-not noticeable on the speedometer-but agrevating to the driver. Any ideas?

When was the last time you checked your fuel filter? You might want to put a gauge on the fuel line and see if the pressure is low. Also check the little screen in the filter canister.

Ok, will check-filter is only 3000 mile old, but bad fuel could clog, so I will clean it up and check screen.

Hi Fat-
Are you sure that the surge is due to fuel? My truck acted kind of like that just before my CPS went out. Not trying to jinx you but you might consider having a spare CPS around if you don't already.
I would also check out the Throttle position sensor under the go pedal. Maybe shoot it with a little contact cleaner.

Not sure of anything, just looking for all possible ideas to check out. It is a very slight annoying feel as you drive, no matter the speed. I have opened it up and it did not clear up. Will try all suggestions this afternoon and some I learned from old posts. Keep up the suggestions.

Awhile back I saw a post with info on cleaning the screen, but can't find it now. Anybody know the proceedure? Is it as simple as removing screen, cleaning it with some compressed air, and replacing? What holds it in?

My self and the oil shop cannot find a screen on the 2001 to clean or change. Filter show no sign of problem. Problem continues and is more pronounced with Powerchip. No DTS codes appear from the diagnostic check.

Called the Dealership for input, and they said "it is the fuel you buy today". What a copout! So far research say CPS or TPS, but most say even those changes did not work, unless unit had failed. Dealership also said EGR valve, which research says 7.3 does not use.
Still looking for help.

It is part of the accelerator pedal assembly.

I can't find one on my 97 either. Can somebody help us locate it? Mine has 105k so i know it needs a cleaning, if I only can find it.

It's in Steve Baz's website at the link above. I know some users have pictures available but I can't tell you exactly who...

The pix of bodabdan do not work for me/Ford changed a screen in the tank and the fuel pump plus the fuel filter and the problem does not disappear. The Superchip only accelerates the condition as you advance thru each setting of increased HP.
Does anyone have a pix of the TPS so I can try the cleanup recommendation?
