I have a 1997 f150 5.4L
there is coolant leaking from a open end hose coming out of firewall on the
passenger side the hose is about 1/2" in dia. and is sticking out past the firewall
about an inch. can anyone tell me what this hose goes to and why it would be leaking coolant out it?
Thanks,
Ifishwalleye
We had the same problem on My 98 F-250 Light Duty. Ended up The hose goes to The heater core and the Clamp had loosened up and was leaking Anti-Freeze Right on top of the Number for coil Pack and shorted it out. U might want to chaeck that. I tightened it up and The smell and leak went away.

I just bought a used 1997 F150 and have noticed the same thing happening. What solution did you come up with? I don't have any of the usual symptoms associated with leaking antifreeze in the cab. Thanks for the help
Ive also got a 1997 150 and it leaked coolant like no other. and not to mention it was blowing like antifreeze vapor through the vents. I took it in and it turned out to be the heater core. you may want to consider getting that checked
