I just bought a generic intake for my Expedition 4.6 and I dont know where to start. Is there some generic Write up which can help me follow through with this? Thanks
Is there even a place to install your MAF on that thing? I just installed my AEM Brute force this evening and I love it. I think its worth every bit of 250.00 that I paid.
make sure you tighten everything down real good. One of my friends installed a similar intake on his mustang and one time it came apart! He said he thought his transmission broke cause it was driving really bad and shifting horribly. When he popped the hood he could see that the MAF wasnt connected
If I may, I would like to put my 2 cents in. I had a set-up just like this but with a genuine K&N filter. If you do a search in here, it seems that even the K&N lets more dirt through. This was discovered when the oil was sent out to a lab. If it is a K&N knock-off, I would have to guess that the problem is worse.
Secondly, now with this set-up, you are sucking air that was heated from the hot engine compartment. The stock, while it is restrictive, pulls cool air from the fenderwell. Seems like the best solution is a Volant cold air intake. It works on the same principle as stock but much less restrictive.
Again, I had the same set-up as you but with the K&N and there was really no performance gain that I could sense. And when I heard about the silica in the oil wearing away the rings, pistons, etc... I removed it. After all that said, if anyone wants to buy one, let me know.

I cant' believe this...I bought the same exact intake in that photo and, just like you, I couldn't intstall it on my 2001 XLT. I took apart the factory intake and started to install the custom one but the pieces they give you just don't match - i thought long and hard about and came to the conclusion that they either give you too many or two few pieces...it's hard to tell, since no set of instructions was included.... The closest set up I could come up with was to use just one of those rubber tubes, but then again I changed my mind because there was no support for the rest of the intake and also, I didn't know where to connect the air sensor...if any one out there can follow up on this question, it would be greatly appreciated....
