i took the #1 plug out and turned the motor over and theres a light spray of water coming out as the motor spins over. did a compression test and that cylinder has none not too good ?bad headgasket and broken ring in that cylinder?
If you have water coming out it is probably a bad head gasket, it could also be a crack in the cylinder wall. Did you check the rest of the cylinders? Do you have water/A/F in the oil?
One, the dead cylinder, that will make it sound odd. This could be from a number of things. Bad piston, bad rings, blown head gasket, warped head, a crack somewhere, ECT... I don’t think this alone will cause oil to blow from the dipstick.
Two, Oil from the dipstick. This is most likely from all of the cylinders being worn to the point that they are causing severe blow by. This will over run the pvc system and push air from the dipstick tube. Very worn cylinders will cause the pistons to slap, odd sound also. The last engine I had with this problem had the cylinders nearly worn .030.
If you do go with a rebuilt long block I would go with a 400 to replace the 351m.

Not to steal he's post,but:
I'll do a compression test and reply again. No smoke out the pipe and no hard starting hot or cold.It has a rear main oil leak,so we are going to pull the motor and rering and rebearing it.Drove it 240mi back home with a 24' 5th wheel, what a mess.Only a quart and a half................
1-120 1-125
2-120 2-120
