Just traded the '97 Xcab for '05 Screw Lariet. My '97 had body molding to prevent door dings. It appears that all the new F150's do not have body moldings. This concerns me since I have to park in a office building lot everyday. I just wanted some feedback on aftermarket parts or any helpful tips that others with the new body style are doing.
I park as far away from everyone as possible and try to park on high spots in parking lots so carts will roll away-instead of toward my truck. The lot where I park is privately owned so they can alter the width of the parking spaces...they are much narrower than standard spaces. Tried to erect a multi level parking garage but the community shot it down
I agree, park as far away from the world as possible! Besides it is good excersize
Actually I have found when it is not possible to stay away from the "Ding People" that the step bars makes wonderful protection. Most cars sit lower than the truck so when they throw thier door open it smacks the step bar and puts a good ding in thier door
Thanks for the recommendations. I try to park far away but always someone parks right next to me. A dent repair man told me to install nerf bars, which was pointed out.

Take a look at the aftermarket molding I added to my 04 150 Super Crew. I think the molding made the truck look a bit better. It also covered up a door ding left by some dork in a parking lot. link to truck pictures There's some before and after shots.
The molding seems to be of good quality, the paint matched perfectly, and installation was very easy.
I think that would work great. Oddly, they don't do it for my truck, Reg cab, 6.5 foot bed.
Chris
Chris, won't the part number for the Super Cab with the 6 ft bed work? Or are the door on a Reg Cab a different length that they are on the Super Cab?
You might want to give Sport Wing a call...they paint the pieces to match your color, so I bet they would also cut a strip from an 8ft box for you before they painted it.
Anyway, Sport Wing is where I got my molding, and I am very happy with it and the service I got from them.
Darn. I laid some black pinstiping in that groove along my truck. That molding would have been perfect. Black plus the protection. I should have waited.
A dent repair specialist told me too add nerf bars. Said this will help some, especially with small cars. Will not help much against trucks, suv's. I may go that route except i do not like the look of the bars.
