We are having a discussion regarding the best location of the probe for a temperature gauge. Many like to use the high pressure test port. I was shown the inside of an E4OD, and in particular, the channel that supplies fluid to the high pressure test port area. This channel "dead ends" and as such, it was explained to me that because it was like that, it would not be a good location for a temperature probe. I moved mine to the line. Any expert opinions here? Thanks.
Mine is not an expert opinion. My temp probe is in the spin on filter adapter housing that takes the line out of the tranny and feeds it to the radiator cooler then to the aux cooler if I recall right.
My spin on adapter is a Permacool that uses a regular oil filter in line with the ATF cooling lines.
I am guessing this is a pretty realistic temp measurement since it is out of the tranny before the cooler. I see probably 130-150 in winter and maybe 180 in summer, unless I tow. It takes a long time, hour plus, to get to temp.
