alright i have 2 trucks a 1970 ford f250 and a 96 f150 that im giving to my dad i currently drive the 96 but i have the habbit of parking it in ditches and not being avel to drive it out so i was thinking maby i should invest in 2 detroit lockers or is there any thing better these are 2wd and mainly street trucks i would also like to be avel to drive off road without needing a toe any one have any suggestions as to a what i would need please help
Detroits are noisy, clunk and chirp jobs. They lock up good, but can be annoying on the street. I do not think a truck parked in the ditch is going to move without a tow, even with a locker.
Google "detroit locker" and find this and others:
edit:
I know nothing about them, and there are many others to pick from if you do the search.
Detroits Lockers aren't as bad as they used to be. I put one in a blown Dodge Ram 1500 (made around 400hp at the time) and it worked nearly as smooth as a factory LS rear end. Wouldn't chirp the tires in a turn unless you goosed it, and locked up as solid as a spool when you nailed it. While I was installing it, I was thinking how bad it was going to be for chirping tires, not turning worth a damn, etc etc. Was far from the case. MUCH better than a lock right or ez locker and much stronger, albeit at a much higher cost.
By far the smoothest locker I've ever used other than the factory type stuff, and 10 times tougher. Get it, you won't be disapointed.
I just installed a detroit soft looker in mt Dana 44 rear, I did a bunch of checking OX lockers and a bunch of others, the detroit sounded like the way to go. I don't have it back on the road yet as the motor is out but should be back togehter in a couple of week.
