computer location
Hi,
I have a 85 f-150 302 and I wanna know where the location of the computer is located or if this engine has a computer? BTW, this is not the orignal engine in this truck, and I don't know if the guy put in the computer or not. And is it under the dash or in the engine compartment?

it most likely will have a computer and its in the dash under the drivers side, just to the right to the steering column, its a gray box, with a large amount o wirring comming out the top.

yes it would be right above your foot if it was an the pedal. the wiring harness comes thru the firewall and hooks to the computer with a bolt. its a plain silver box. if your new engine has a self contained ignition, pitch the computer and all its wires. makes it much cleaner, and doesn't effect any other systems (ie. cruise, gauges).
I'm assuming its not EFI. I would advise keeping the computer around if that is true, if you want it to run.

And its not EFI, 2 Barrel Motorcraft Carb. Well I was looking around the compartment and found a silver/black box and it had a cover on it and it had a bolt covering it up. And written on the box it had EEC-IV and a bunch of #'s then. And are there any code readers that have a display unit? The one that I looked at only did like the morse code stuff. Motorcraftsman seemed to describe the location perfect hopefully thats it.

well guys,
I bought the code scanner, and I have already taken it back. I pluged it in and all it ever did was beep, so me and my dad came to the conclusion that the computer is not plugged in. so I took it back.
