could someone tell me what a FMX transmition is? I know about the C4 & C6. But now I figured I own a "FMX" in my 1975 F-100. Is it any better than the C4/6 or worse. Just put a new 302 in it dont have a kick down cable yet was wondering how hard it is to put in and adjust also. any help would be appriciated.
The FMX has a cast iron case with aluminum tail shaft housing and bell housing. IME they are very reliable. Much better than the C4 and not as prone to leaking like the C6.
With the cast iron case they may run a little warmer than aluminum so make sure you have a good cooler on it.
Whats the new "B" word? The FMX is a decent smooth shifting transmission. The downside to it is that it is not very popular and has little to no aftermarket support. I had one that I couldn't even give away so I brought it in to the local trans shop and told them I didn't want to look at it anymore.
