That's right, it's my first post and I'm already asking for something...
1990 F350 Crew Cab Dually, 460 5 speed with dual fuel tanks, 150k miles
I've got a steady stream of fuel coming from between the front gas tank and the left frame rail it's up against. Both fuel lines for the front and rear tank run along this rail and I can't get up under to see what assemblies, check valves etc are near the leak.
The leak occurs as soon as I start the engine and occurs whether I choose the front or rear tank.
I'd like help understanding what's down there and some troubleshooting ideas before I call the shop. I'll be looking online for diagrams.
Thanks folks. This is my boat towin' rig and it's time to tow the boat!
In front of the front tank is a reservoir, then the high pressure pump and next the fuel filter. You should be able to haer the high pressure pump and locate it; the filter is in front and the reservoir is behind the pump. The reservoir is square on top and has a round section on the bottom and has about 4 lines coming in, 2 going out, if i am reading the diagrams correctly. Good luck.
thanks guys but my second inspection revealed the problem.
Two of the fuel lines coming out of the top of the front tank have been chewed or cut open. The outer casing of one line had about a three inch hole cut out of it and the inner, smaller diameter line is split open which is spewing the fuel. The second line had been completely severed and is just gone. I'll look up what it's supposed to look like tomorrow.
Hopefully we just have some hungry critters here, otherwise someone wants to see me pushing up daisys and that's just not right. I mean I try to return most of my calls, I let folks in traffic when they're merging, especially if they've been using their signal, ....there was this girl in 7th grade who I broke up with by throwing a letter that read "goodbye" out the school bus window but hopefully she's worked through most of that in therapy....
95X15-- I could only see the fuel filter in my system. After reading the manual I found out the fuel pumps are insideeach of the tanks and if I drain either tank completely I need to fill it back up completely or I risk damaging the fuel pump. Damn them manuals, I learn something every day.
Purchased a 3/8" Quick Disconnect Ford Nylon Fuel Line repair Kit from Advance Auto. Looks like I will splice the line where the squirrel chewed through and connect the line with the supplied double end fitting. I'll post my success soon....
