Shift Lever

I am unable to shift into any gear, started out unable to shift past neutral into park.

As of now, the lever is like a wet noodle, not feel whatsoever.

Wanted to try adjusting according to my manual, but unable to without shifting into OD first.

I'm thinking that pawl system in the column is broke.

Any idea what it would take to fix moneywise, and/or if I could do it myself.

Was going to get rid of the vehicle last November just before this happened, and parked it for the winter, moved it Sunday, and now its unmovable.

Transmission was fine before this happened, though had never seen service or adjustment, my fault.

The lever is connected to a cable, that hten runs into the transmission houseing. The cable would be ery unlikely to completely sieze up, but obviously something has happened. Check the cable underneath the van, right on the iside of the frame on the drivers side. It comes near the exhaust pipe. Inspect it for any obvious damage right here, perhaps burned, pinched, or any kind of damage that might cause problems. I really don't know what to tell you, but chances are that the control lever has somehow siezed, possibley inside the tranny. The tranny really should be serviced every 80K miles. You know, all new fluid and filter.

Look at the end of the steering column for the torx bolts. Its 3 and mine keep coming loose and when it does I can shift properly and it won't show the right gear until I tighten them up
