I don't have alot of info on vehicle at this time.Just tring to help a friend. The wanna-be-van was running fine, and just quit. Both fuel pumps are working fine. The plugs have spark. Its unknown to me if it will run on ether. The man told me that the engine will not even try when given a shot of fuel in the intake.[I don't know how this was administered].This is out of my shade tree mechanics comprehenision.I / my friend, would like to know how the fuel injection is timmed on these engines. Also how the distrbuter is timmed. Are they both timmed from the cam? Is the fuel timmed from the cam, flywheel, harmonic damper or what. Is it timmed with a photo sensor or cam lobe.Any help would be more than I could give him , Thanks for anything anyone can give. My appoligies to the curator , All I know is that the vehicle is an aerostar. He didn't tell me what size engine it was . I don't think he knows for sure .I wasn't sure where to post this . help this ford. THANX, the badgerskeeper

You might have better luck with this in the electrical systems forums.I had a similar problem. My problem was no pip signal, with no pip signal your injectors problay wont turn on or pluse like they should. This is just a stab in the dark.I got a lot of testing info from this site(http://www.onr.com/user/pbooth/mustang/tfi.html).You can also hook a tach up to blue pip wire coming out of ele conector(poke pin through wire for a connection). With tach hooked up to power and ready to work you should get a reading of above 0 if not no signal stator could be bad. (ps)you have to crank the engine over to do this,or if you have dist out just spin it over
However, with no PIP signal, the coils(s) won't fire either. Are you sure you are getting consistent spark? A weak, or intermittent spark is the same as none at all.
Without more detailed information on the year and engine, we can't really explain how the ignition system relates to timing, fuel injector activation, etc. Also, do you have a check engine light?..if so, what are the codes???
Agree with Khantyranitar, if spark isn't a good, blue spark, it may not be strong enough to start/run the engine. Recently had a similar problem on my 92 3.0L which was fixed when I replaced the plugs and wires.
