Lightbulb Might be a stupid question?

Yesterday I drove my freinds 04 Screw 4x2. That thing would fly. It seems like his would blow the doors off my 04 FX4 . Now I know that he should out run me since his is 2 wheel drive but his speedometer moved twice as fast as mine. I was wondering if the difference in gauges would make his truck seem faster than mine? He's got the standard gauges in his and I have the Fx4 guages in mine. Maybee the Fx4 gauges are a little slower to roll than the standard? Or maybee his truck would just smoke mine. ( I told you this may be a stupid question !! )

Questions are, what rear end does he have? What size tires? How many miles on your truck and on his? They do get better with miles. Ther is a difference of at least a couple of hundred pounds between the two. He doesn't have a front axle or a transfer case. Weight doe make a big difference.
Not a dumb question at all, it will be interesting to find out all the diffrences between the 2 trucks.
Another question, has he done anything like a programmer to his truck?

Hey man. I'll have to ask him what gears he has. I think he's got 3.55's W/O LS with the stock 17's. He's got about 22K on his and hasn't done a thing to it.(at least that's what he says and you know how that goes). Mines got 3.73's,LS, 18's , and only 9500 miles. When mine hits about 4 grand you better hold on, up to that point it's seemed liked his pulled a little better. It could be the way I taught my truck to drive so to speak. With that drive by wire, learning my driving habits. Ah, I don't know.

Heard the poor-man's tune up is to disconnect the battery overnight so the memory capacitor runs out of juice. Reconnect in the morning and the truck will be forced to regain data (rather than learn as you go). Not sure if it helps...never did it.

I have messed with it.
You don't need to leave it more than about 2-4 minutes. By the time the airbag capacitors have drained, the memory is empty.

It will run a little rough for the first few dozen miles, learning your driving practice.

In the manual it gives the driving/training they recommend.
Short version, discharge the capacitors, and then drive it normal, with some freeway, some idling, some hard driving. By about 100 miles it should be 'trained'.

Take them out and run the 1/4 mile. Then from a dead stop run each other until top end, approx. 110 mph.Use extreme caution while performing this test.Let us know the outcome.Good Luck!
