i own a 1980 f150, can anyone tell me where the buzzer is located in the dash, mine stopped workin about a month ago and i'm kinda picky about keepin things workin. thanks
I had to get mine back working again, as irritating as it is I didn't want to come outside after going in somewhere during the day and finding my battery dead.
I understand , I guess Im just used to going thru a routine of shutting things down like lights etc ... I thought those things never died ... That was the first time I had ever heard of anyone wanting a buzzer to work .
I want to swap mine out and put in a "bonger" from like a 92-96 model. That stinking buzzer sure does get annoying. Do you know if anybody would know if that would work?
The buzzer is located directly above the glove box door. It is hidden by the card board excuse for a box. It is really easy to get to and should be green. It has a clip that you undo and voila there it is. Just be careful of any A/C lines and wires that aren't were they are suppossed to be. The wire harness even clips right in to the buzzer. The reason I know all this is because I had to pull my dash to fix a wire harness after I drilled a hole through it. Somebody before had "put" it back togther with the harness through the Support Bracket between the radio and the gauges. I even checked it Three times before drilling.
Hotrod. Be careful if you pull your "bonger" from a 92, you may not get what you wanted. Mine's the "buzzer". There were no buzzers when I bought the truck. It had been a service truck and I assumed the company had disabled them somehow. The dome light also didn't work. When I took the switch on the door apart I found that the wiring harness had been disconnected. I wanted the dome light to work and when I reconnected the harness, bingo, the ignition and seat belt buzzers came back. The buzzer is still disabled for the head light switch. I don't know how to reactivate that one.

I hate to say htis but I think they are all run through one setup. At least that's how mine is anyway. I know the company I used to work for had a 94 F-150 and it had the "bonger" instead of the "buzzer". I just know that stupid buzzer gets annoying at times!
I think the wiring might be the same, but I know how Ford is about switching wires around. I pout a 91 model F-150 wiring harness in my engine compartment when I did my engine swap. Well, the headlights came on with the fuel pump when I first turned the key on, so Houston There was a problem.
hey, guys, I have the same problem...my buzzer stopped working. I would like to install a "bonger" from a late-model, but I need to know what year truck to get it for. I asked the parts man and he said I need some kind of code on the back of the bonger? anyone heard of this? thanks in advance.
I think only the Xlt Lariat versions of the 87 to 96 F150's had the bong type units ? I may be wrong ? I seem to recall the buzzers on the Base & Xl models
I've never had the buzzer go off on my truck for headlights, it only buzzes when key in ignition and drivers door is open...I've left the lights on so many times its not even funnny, the worst time by far though was when I was taking my SAT's, left em on the whole day, come on, and my alarm light wasn't even blinking under the dash...DOH!
I have a 96 F150 4x4 XL, with the buzzer. Story is, the XL, came with the buzzer, and no headlamp warning buzzer, so, if you left them on, your SH** out of luck! I went to a junkyard and yanked a "bonger" from a 94, and stuck it in it's place, and also noticed the bonger has one more terminal on it, that is the one for the headlamp reminder. Works like a charm , except mine was not behind the glovebox, as far as I know 92 on up have it just above and to the right of the gas pedal, the buzzer box was blue, the bonger is black.

Open your glove box door and feel around just to the left of the latch. You will feel the buzzer there. Give it about a quarter turn and it will pop right out. then all you have to do is hook the harness back up and reinstall it. sometimes people like to push the harness back up inside so you might be time ahead to pull the top pad off of the dash to get at the harness.
