Everyone knows that the 05' Mustang is THE CAR! So here's the question-do you think Chevy will come up with a new camaro to compete with the stang, or are they just going to sit there and get trampled? Do you think they are even capable of making a car with the engine facing the right way and rear wheel drive? What do you think?
I believe bang for the buck the Vette takes it. Seriously at 45ish it's a steal! I myself couldn't have just a regular one so I ordered an '06 Z06. And the rumor is there will be a new Camaro in '07. The Stang may outsell the GM F bodies but they'll be second slowest once again.
The platform that could have been for a new Camaro died a few weeks ago. But they will get engines turned the right way, along with axles, when the next-generation Impala, after the upcoming new car, appears. ('09ish)

My Motor Trend mag doesn't lie. An '02 SLP SS Camaro spanked the '02 Mustang Cobra 0-60. 1/4 mile, and top end. Another thing dont nip and tuck my posts.
doesn't lie.................but somebody does.
I sure hope you are not accusing anyone here....becasue that would not be tolerated.
Lets keep it above the table....

Please post a link or scan of your truthful magazine article. That '02 Cobra would be a rare snake indeed!!!
Word on the groud here is that Holden will be engineering the next Camaro for an '08/'09 release. It will be designed in the US.
It will be based on the ZETA platform (which will underpin the next Holden Commodore/Pontiac GTO).
It would be powered by a 3.8l HFV6 and the Gen IV, with a 5 speed auto, and T56 transmission.
The only thing is this didn't come from my usual source so I am unsure of its reliability.
I know Holden is Bob Lutz's favorite child at the moment, but I would think even he would be a little hesitant to have one of America's favorite muscle cars engineered down under.

No accusations. Whoever said there was an '02 Cobra is not being, "above the table".
My problem( I know newb's aren't supposed to have problems) is someone is comparing a tuner car (SLP) to a non-existent car ('02 Cobra)
Of course, the poster is totally forgetting the '03-'04 Cobras pretty much "spanked" any factory F-body ever.
I've been lurking for a while, Tim, and I know one of your edicts is not to post BS...............
I just still can't believe that GM would have axed the F-bodies without having anything "waiting in the wings". Just kind of seems like they gave that one to ford. I mean with the T-bird, at least when they killed it off they already had the new one pretty much done. "Bang for the buck" wise I still think the stang takes it over the vette just because it is 15-20 thousand dollars cheaper. That is a lot of money! If you put even 1/2 of that into a new mustang it would be a lot faster than a vette!
