According to my owners manual, (1965) all F series (cab) fuel tanks are 18 US gallons. When I had my tank out a while ago, I put in 9 gallons and adjusted the sending units float rod so that the gauge read 1/2. I had to bend it slightly twice to get there. Steve
Yeah, you definately want the error to be in the other direction (showing empty with some reserve). One thing you may want to check is if the instrument voltage regulator is delivering the correct voltage to the gauges. Do you also have a functioning temp gauge? The reason I ask is there are some that have fluctuating or non functional gauges which are caused by the little voltage regulator located on the back of the instrument cluster or on one of the supports behind the cluster. I forget but the voltage should be around 5VDC. My replacement cost $15 from NAPA.
I pulled the sensor over the winter and it was sotra buggered up.I cleaned it and reinstalled it.I think I'll start fresh with a new one.All of the other gauges work fine.
