Greg's always thinkin' more smartly then the rest of us..............
(actually you get buddies to drive and say.."I'll drive NEXT time").
As for dizzy improvement. I'd probably just get a Pertronix or such for your stocker. No sense in buying a high buck dizzy where you can update yours much more economically. That is unless you find someone that is willing to part with a nice used one cheap?
You can reset the timing curve, get adjustable vacuum advance, etc pretty cheap.
As for header gaskets. I still have the stock paper pieces that came with headers. The one BIG thing in installing headers is getting the things torqued down evenly and tightly. I always get all the bolts started, then just bottomed down, then work from center out. Go top/bottom as you work out, this way it pulls the flange tight and flat against the head. Work in a couple increments and stay as uniform as possible. I've got TWO years on mine and still quiet as a mouse(of course I just jinxed it).
If you work from out to in, you'll try to squish the flange towards the center and this will create possible leaks as the header expands/contracts. Once they do warm up/cool make sure to retighten them. Do this for a couple days to make sure they stay tight. I know this is not a perfect world, and they will leak somewhere, sometime but this helps to delay they inevitable.

OK, you may have to sacrifice one dance or recruit a buddy to help pay for gas :-)
Must Focus!
You dont need to sacrifice anything! First, get said buddy's drunk. Then, take off for the dancing establishment. On the way there, stop at EVERY gas station, and "fill 'er up". It takes $20 every time you fill up. Since you're out of money, you need to "borrow" $20 from your drunk friends. By the time you get there, you'll have money for extra dances, and a full tank of gas!
Hey have you guys had any luck with Autolite spark plugs? I went to get some from Napa and the guy didn't offer me a choice. Well I'm thinking of doing that dizzy upgrade and adding a new coil and wires. I was just wondering how much difference sparkplugs would make. I'm not sure if I got some crappy plugs or what. If you've got a particular brand you have had good luck with let me know and I'll give them a try
