Talking Cheap upgrade questions

Hey guys I was wondering if you could give me a little advice. I've got about $200 to spend and I was wondering what would be some good buys for my pickup. I got the manuals for my truck('75 F150 Ranger XLT (390)) yesterday from motorhaven.com and I still have the extra $200 to spend. I know there are several things that I could get but I also realize $200 isn't a lot to spend either. I'm not looking for anything in particular. I just wanted to pick someone else's brain. Thankx

Have you got your cooler full of cold beer to go in the back yet? But then again with gas prices the way they are you could put $200. in the tank in no time. Or maybe belts, houses, oil change, brake overhaul, new plugs and wires, tranny fluid and filters? (if it's auto trans)

beer is always a good decision but if you want it for your truck...gas, fog lights, $200 bucks will make your engine look nice.

Not to be a stick in the mud but with gas prices the way they are I would spend the money on "tune up" parts. $200 spent here will probably mean you'd be that far ahead by the end of summer, then you can go with the chrome goodies. You could probably buy some fuzzy dice for the mirror now though!

All good ideas. I think I'm going to do some tune up type stuff. Not real sure as to what though. I mean of course the usual. The majority of the tune up things have already been done by the previous owner. I've heard the suggestion of headers brought up. What do you guys think? I've been told that with headers you are always changing out gaskets. Any experiences with that?

When's the last time you changed the transmission fluid? Most people over look the transmission. I would add a good transmission fluid cooler too. That should chew up your two hundred bucks and you may have enough left over for a six-pack!

I've had headers on mine for about 3 years and have yet to replace a gasket.

When were the Front and Rear Diff. serviced? Don't forget the Transfercase. These are often neglected until they die.

Sorry about the delay in answering your questions. Apparently AOL thought the email from this site was spam. I'm not sure when the tranny and differentials and transfercase were serviced last. I purchased the truck back in January and have probably only put a couple hundred miles on it since then. The majority of those were the 40 mi. to get home from the guy's house that I purchased it from. Thanks for the advice guys

How about an Intake maniforld? Or some new mufflers to help that thing breathe? A brake job would be a ggod investment.
