Bellhousing trouble

I have an akward situation with my build. In my scout It came with a v8amc bellhousing that was very long which made a gap of about 12" between the engine and the fire wall due to the tight fit in the fire wall so you could get around the engine and work.

Basically I need to space my engine a 8"-12" away from my bellhousing.

Is there any adapters that do this?

will an amc 304v8 bellhousing fit a ford 302?

No, the AMC bellhousing will not fit the Ford 302. Depending on the trans in the Scout you may not be able to replace the bell housing. I have both the AMC and IH TF727 just sitting around as I get rid of my Scout stuff. I too wanted to put a 302 in my Scout. If you have a manual it may be a T19 and you should be able to swap it out for a Ford one.
