I had some leaks going on, and just had it tested. I have a leak in the Rad. Not fixable, Leak in the timing cover, and Thermostat cover also. Any idea on what a reasonable cost would be to have the following replaced? : Radiator, all hoses, timing cover gasket, timing gear and chain, thermostat, and thermostat gasket? I don't have the time and it's cold up here in Wisconsin right now.

WOW .....You know If you back out like 250.00-300.00 for a GOOD Heavy duty rad (watch out for cheap crap) then I guess it may be OK...
Is replacing the gears and chain going to give you anything Other Than it will be the best chance to do it since the timing cover is of anyway?
Labor charges in my area run around 55.00 to 65.00 Non dealer!
Might as well go fo a new Water Pump
Mabe fluch/clean it out BEFORE hooking up the new stuff other wise the crud will still be there...

I'm doing the Timing chain since I have 141K on it. The Water pump is 1yr old, so that is ok. I'm also at an independant radiator/AC specialist. 9hrs labor is what is quoted. Thanks for the input. Mag
Wow, I think I could probably do it in less than nine hours under my shade tree; so they should be able to complete it in 5 hours or less. Let's see; remove belt, fan, shroud, radiator, water pump, timing cover, replace chain, put back together; I know I can swap my radiator in a little over an hour and swap my water pump in less than an hour...but you've got to loosen all those accessory brackets..A/C, altenator, power steering...You should be able to get a good Modine radiator for around $180-$200. I guess on the short side it still adds up to $500-$600 total.
If your having it done @ Ford then the majority of that is labor cost . What I might be inclined to do if its just the cold holding you back & no inside area to do the work is wait until the weather warms if you think you can let it go that long ? If the radiator is leaking bad then you may want to have that done asap , I hate to use any kind of a stop leak product unless there is no other choice . Maybe check around & see if you can find a good independant shop that charges less for labor . You may be able to shave a few hundred off the labor costs .
I have same truck as you, mine is an ext. cab though. Just did all that a month ago. Radiator should be $140-$160, got water pump, timing chain set, gasket set, antifreeze, and themostat for under$100. Got my stuff at Advance Auto, Auto Zone was close to same price.
I hate to say it, but I got it done. I just didn't have the time right now. The truck runs better. (timing chain was about 3/16" or more loose side.) I was having a belt squeal that would not go away, it's gone. When starting up, the idle would surge, that is pretty much gone. Still have to try cleaning throttle bore stuff. (can wait for now) Thanks for all the input. 92-f150 4x4 ext cab, 302, 31 bfg's
