The shortage is really not all that hard to understand. We simply forgot to check the oil again. Most all our domestic oil is TX, OK, and AK. But all our dipsticks are in Washington DC.
Depends on the station. Gas stations off the freeway is $2.89 for 91 and off the freeway (where I fill up) is $2.71 for 91. I use regular which runs good and it's $2.48. I went and bought a cruiser bicycle so instead of driving to the auto parts, groceries, I hop on my bike. Saving a ton of gas that way. and I'm getting into shape (except for the muscles that ache which I haven't used in the past 10 years.)
in Australia it is around $1.10 a litre, that's around AU $ 4.90 A GALLON !!!!!!!!!
In Saskatchewan it is not much better, it is 94.9 cents a litre or $4.31 a Canadian gallon. A Canadian gallon is 20 percent larger than a US gallon, which helps.
My question is why is it when I'm driving down the street and they announce on the radio that a barrel of oil, which is being pumped half a world away and won't reach our shores for three months, went up five cents the price at the gas station is almost immediately raised five cents a gallon but the next day when the price for a barrel goes down twenty cents it takes about two weeks for the pump price to drop five cents. I know it has all to do with commodity trading, and it's more complex than I can know, but I still find it interesting
