Hi all ! My f150 1986 was upgrade 2 years ago with a new Delco Remy alternator 94Amp, 12V, internal regulator. After that my truck keeps 14Vdc all time, even with engine running at idle + AC + Lights + wipers and electrical fan.
Some months ago it start lossing power I mean can´t hold 14 Vdc with same loads and idle as always did, I had replaced the voltage regulator, rotor, stator, brush and bearings and still same, the diode package was tested and all 6 diodes seems to me are working fine... but problem still present
Anyone know what's the problem??? should I replace diode package even if it is passing the standard test??? there is a black semiconductor also, triod I guess.. this is basically a package with 3 diodes inside, it works fine but could be causing problem???
Ok, fallowing your recomendations, I did install this morning a new pulley and belt but things are same...
Idle speed is 650 as always and diodes were tested using same procedure you describe, anyway I guess I'm going to replace diode package and triod also, both are the only original parts, hope it works...
I'm planing also upgrade to a 130Amp - 12Vdc alternator like used by earlier Explorer
