Timing

Have had overheating problems on my stock 76 460 F250, found to be total timing, have reduced from 52 to about 40 . Does anyone know what it should be and a easy way to reduce it more (ran out of adj. on the vac adv.)

i have the same problem on mine. you might need to reduce the base timing more or have the distrubutor recurved. does yours overheat at higher rpms? i think my timing is around 46 @2500 rpms. its suppose to be around 36 @2500 rpms.
