I have a 91 F150 ext'd cab, 302,eaod trans.
My tach has developed a mind of it's own or has just become possessed. Problem: The tach wants to stay at 3400rpm until I cross that line. And even then it doesn't respond correctly. Just recently my other guages have started to read high. I believe this is most certainly an electrical problem. Sometimes it will go a week and all is fine. Have noticed that when it freaks out, it happens when I use my turn signal, cruise, brakes or windshield wipers. I can fix this but, have limited time to work on my truck. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Hoot, It sounds to me that the voltage regulator for your guage cluster is on its way out. The guages run on a lower voltage. Usually the guages give strange readings, (sometimes above average readings), when this regulator acts up. I believe that it is just a plug-in type of thing. Good luck.
