Kevint: Love your stereo. I have a Alpine with 6x8 JBL's and have the Blaupunkt 6.5's you have. Do you like yours? , while it doesn't compare to your's, I still love it. My front door speakers where really rusted out. Where your's that way?

Pastmaster,

I brought that subject up to the muffler shop where I had all of my welding done. They would do that, but just not touch anything else. They classified it as fixing an exhaust leak so we could get around all the mumbo jumbo.

Anyway, they also make these exact same tips in of all things Stainless! I checked into it, and through them a pair runs $79 bucks installed!

Just a thought, you might want to look into it! I know stainless shines a whole lot better than chrome any day!

hotrodford_88: My tips are rusting from the inside out. I wax the crap out of them with no luck. I love the sound they make! I paid $75 for them about 4 years ago. I want to replace the pre-heater and convertor. They shop looked into it and told me it would be cheaper to go with true dual's and 2 seperate high flow cats.

I'll look into these stainless steel. I had some rail's on another truck that looked new years later.

Pastmaster:
The reason I replaced my 6.5's was the bass was completely overpowering EVERYTHING else, even listening to AM stations for traffic info...LOL! I LUV the blaupunkts, I've been having a thought bouncing around my head of moving them into the rear with some custom plates to fill the 6x8 hole and then put a blaupunkt component set in the front with the tweeters in the upper front door corner where it meets the window
But thats for another day...sadly I'm getting rid of the truck at the end of the year so that means no spending money on things that wont be able to go into the new truck
I know you hate this word, but I'll be swapping up to a `97 GMC Sierra with 61k miles that my dad is currently driving...I haven't decided whether to keep my truck or to sell it

One more thing, do your rear 6x8's vibrate the speaker panels that hold them? I have the most anoying rattle in the world coming from my passenger side rear speaker, maybe its because my pioneers are rated down to 30 hz and when they are hitting that low a freq. the panels just arent tight enough? I have tried sticking the soft side of velcroe underneath the speaker panel but it doesn't help much, I think the grills are vibrating on the panel, either that or its the plastic body panel itself, it drives me nutz! (and if I fade the sound to the front, the sound is taken away from my subs...argh)

Kevint: No they haven't rattled...yet...I have JBL Decade DS755 5"x7"/6"x8" 2-w now. My friend gave me the old Pioneers. I think they were around 12 years old. I still have them. I haven't had a chance to yank the original front's out yet. They actually don't sound to bad.

I hope you like your GMC...Did you know that they have 6 1/2's for front and 4x8's in the rear? Also on the door panels, at the front of the window button's where theres a grille, there's tweeter's there. My father gave his 1998 Chevy to a guy that work's for him. He has a newer GM now.

Maybe some GMC's are different, my dads has 5 1/4"s in the front and 4x6's in the rear, I haven't found any 4x6's yet that I like the sound of, although tht pioneer 4x6 plate speaker (seperate 4" mid and 1" tweet in a plate) doesn't sound too bad, and my sub box will slip right in behind the seat, I cant believe I'm going to be driving something with cloth seats for once!

You might be right, I read that on the Crutchfield site. Cloth seats are really nice during the cold winter and hot summer. I've gotten my a#$ and back of leg's burnt because of that vynol!
