Reason: adding sumpin yo !!!
A few online sources only show through 2004. Each OEM fog light is around $90 (not as a kit). Also, don't assume the wiring is there. In the 2001/2002 Escapes, Ford left the wiring in the vehicles for "options" such as the rear power point, etc. But to save a few pennies, they started delisting everything that wasn't truly required. I haven't pulled the tire/fender liner on my 2005 to verify but it may not exist.
I've got over 6k on my 2005 I4 auto XLS, getting between 26-27mpg. My 2002 V6 XLS got around 24mpg.
Yeah Im assuming about the wiring(or hoping)...........Ford is the one calling it a kit.......I asked them what the #'s and avail. were and thats all they said..............I'll just order it thru a B-shop or wait for an a-mkt. that bolts up............Anyone else know if a retro will work????
*looking forward to those MPG.......(thats why I didn't justify the x-tra $ for the hybrid)
There are plenty of foglights for the 2005 Escape available on Ebay. As for wiring, your vehicle comes equipped pre-wired for everything. You will need to purchase a fog light switch from the dealer.
Huh? My girlfriend has an '05 non-hybrid 6 cyl and it has fog lights.
I looked where the jack is stowed and didn't see wiring for a power point, where might it be if it exists? I did see something that looks like an amplifier, it has the jacked-up stock stereo.
Another echo for not assuming the wiring will be there. I have an '05 XLT and I'm finding that a few things aren't where I expect, such as the wiring for the rear power point. Also, the '05 round fog light shape is new, I believe.
I just bought a pair of OEM fog lights for my 2005 Escape from carpartswholesale.com on e-bay. Paid $35 each, plus shipping. Had to buy the OEM switch from a Ford dealership, though. That sucker cost almost $25 with tax.
Anyway. before buying the parts ,check to see if the switch wiring plug, and wires, are in the dash. The little cover, where the switch installs just pops out. Also be sure to check for the light connector wiring under the wheel wells. You'll have to pull back the wheel well cover to check for those. Finally, make sure there is a fuse in slot 14, and a relay in Relay Position 9 in the fuse block under the hood (by the battery).
If the wiring, fuse and relay are there, then you're good-to-go. I ended up using a 4 1/2" hole saw to make the cutouts to install the lights. Then trimmed them to size with a Dremel tool (with a sanding wheel attached).
I purchased the foglights for my 05 XLS from GetCrashParts.com for about 35.00 each plus $7.00 shipping (total). Installation required removal of the front bumper skin (not a big deal) and drilling out the cutouts with a dremel and cutting bit. Installation time took 1.5 hours. I will need to take the vehicle to the dealer to get them to "turn on" the foglights in the computer.
