My 1985 Ford F-150 Automatic,.302 V-8 engine is headed toward the 100,000mile mark and my question is, is there anything I should have done to it to get optimum performance beyond 100,000miles

Zemus, As long as you keep up the service work on the truck, it should last a long time. Have you tuned the engine lately? Have you changed the tranny fluid and screen? Just a couple of thoughts. Good luck with your truck.

The only thing I can specifically think of that should be changed at that point is the rear differential fluid. (Personally, i think it should be done more often than this depending on the wear and tear on the truck, but that's what Ford recommends). Other than that, just keep it tuned. Remember: "If it ain't broke, don't worry, it will. Fix it then"

I have 130,000 on my 92 and my uncle has 200,000 on his 88, we both have 302s. Just feep fluids and filters changed and you should be pleased with the results. Mine still runs great and doesn't even burn any oil between oil changes.
