Is there a fairly easy way to setup Daytime Running Lights on an 03 Super Duty?
BTW, moderator. I searched on daytime + running + lights before posting. I got three links that didn't work, and a ton of posts, none of which had a thing to do with DRL. I have noticed on other searches that the search function here doesn't work very well.
If you have the "automatic lights" that have the center on the dash, someone said earlier that you can paint the sensor so that it tricks it into thinking its always dark, then your lights will be on all the time, kinda like DRL. Wow, that was a long sentence.
Sure, I can paint the sensor, or just turn the lights on, but that's not DRL. DRL turns the headlights (or some other white light on the front of the truck on) when the key is on and the parking brake is NOT pressed in. All the lights are not turned on, and the dash lights do not dim. I just assumed that since a product is cheaper with fewer modifications that all North American trucks would have the wiring, etc for DRL. I thought that there might be a module you could buy to "activate" this feature. IMHO, the lack of this safety feature is one of the few things that I do NOT like on my Ford.
You can purchase a Canadian truck and get DRL's, but that's probably not an option for you ...
I've seen instructions for this mod, and I'll look for them and post a link-hopefully it's not to the "other" site, or the post will be removed
From what I remember, it's fairly easy - involves purchasig a DRL module which gets installed in the harness behind the glovebox, and a resistor which goes in the harness behind the driver's headlight.
I'll take a look and post here, or send you a PM..

I installed them on my 2000 F-250 SD.All I had to do was purchase a resistor assembly and a plug in relay. The truck was already wired for them.
Thanks, fellas. I ordered the kit from my Ford dealer today. Hummer1, can you estimate the time it took you to install the kit? The kit is only $68 from Ford so there can't be much involved.

I installed the kit acouple of years back, near as I remember I had to remove the glove box to install the relay, and the resistor box just screwed to exhisting holes in the sheet metal close to the left headlight. The wires just plugged into the relay box.
