Just installed a Superlift 4" kit and really happy with it.. But my steerinf wheel was 180 degrees out Got the truck alined and got it 90 degrees back.. Still 90 out .. I was told by the Superlift guy that a drop pitman arm would hit the new track bar bracket iI installed and I woudn't get full turning radius.. He told me the truck might settle and it would come back,I told him if it settles that much I'll take the kit off and send it back! He suggested a longer drag bar coupling.. Any help would be great or info on something I might have missed..
Thxs
Have you already adjusted the stock sleeve on the drag link?
I have heard that the SL pitman arm will hit their trac bar bracket on a 4".
Most other 4" lifts come with a drop pitman arm and drop trac bar bracket without issues though. The 4" Rancho I used to run came with both....no clearnace issues.
If your stock adjustment sleeve is already been lengthened to where you shouldn't go any more than a longer adjustment sleeve seems to be the only answer since their pitman arm will hit their trac bar bracket.
Did the steering wheel get turned while the pitman arm was off? A similar thing happened on my brother's chevy when he was replacing the pitman arm (he's got a 6" lift). He grabed hold of the steering wheel to climb into the truck and the wheel spun around a couple times. Luckily there were some stains/marks on the steering box and pitman arm, lined them up and got it back pretty close to normal.
I installed a Superlift 4" lift kit on my 2002 F350 PSD CC 4x4 short bed about 2 months ago. After the alignment, my steering wheel is only slightly off. The foreman at 4 Wheel Parts said the lift will settle and the steering wheel will be right on. Time will tell. But yours shouldn't be that far off. Something must not have been done right.
mine was off that far too, as was every truck with a lift installed that i have seen. first choice is to loosen the sleeve on the drag link and pull it apart until the steering wheel is straight. if you do not have that much adjustment left then look where the steering shaft from the steering column goes into the power steering box, there is a plastic sleeve you can pull back, take out the bolt thats under the sleeve right at the last joint and you can pull the joint off the spline shaft, turn your steering wheel back to where it belongs and re-attach the shaft and put the bolt back in. itll take you 5 minutes
