I bought my 97 F150 4X4 3 years ago. It has 80,000 on it now. When I bought it, it had cheap tires on it and they were all flat spotted. I put new tire on it 2 years ago. They are GoodYear Wrangler ATS 265 17. 10,000 miles later, they have flat spots too. Its all 4 tires that are doing it. The truck drives straight down the road and doesn't pull to one side or the other. The steering wheel is straight.I haven't had any lockups or panic stops and I always check air pressure and run them at maximum pressure. What could be causing this.
If there is a good bit of tread life left, it would be worth finding a shop with a GSP9700 Hunter balancer. These things have a pressure wheel that applies 700 pounds of rolling pressure on the tire and gives analysis. It can tell you if the tire is salvagable.
You can find the nearest one to you by going to www.gsp9700.com. I am in no way affilliated with Hunter, I just know about this unique machine.
Are you saying that you've only put on 10K mi since you've bought the truck 3 years ago?
Are there multiple flat spots on each tire? If so, this would point to worn out shocks or other suspension componets.
Usually one flat spot per tire is associated with sitting in one spot for very long periods of time.
You wouldn't happen to have a daughter/son that likes to hod-rod....would you?
Would it be possible for you to post a picture of the tires to your gallery? This makes the diagnosis so much easier as it eliminates alot of the guess work.
