Broken Spring - Please Help
F-250 sold in America, imported into Australia and converted to RHD. Any mechanics / suspension shops that I talk to just start talking ridiculous $$$ or say "nah mate, never get anything for that" and that's the end of it.
I was toying with the idea of lifting it, but most of the posts suggested that without a dana 60, I might be causing other problems, so I just left that alone. Now that this has happened, I'm looking at the lift again and asking for advice on any kits available online from decent retailers or just any advice at all.
My truck is a 92 F-250 Super Cab with the 7.3l Diesel V8. Leaf springs all round and looks like it has some sort of heavy duty towing package (big thick springs at the bottom of the rear packs). Front springs are parabolics.
Because there aren't many of these trucks around in Australia (they were never sold here new until 2000) there is no one, that I have found, who can help. So I turn to my fellow FTE'ers for advice.
Many thanks in advance
The thick leaves at the bottom of the pack are overload springs. You shouldn't have to use them, unless, well, you overload the truck.
You can definately lift a TTB F-250, there are a ton of kits made especially for it. Anything more than about 2" will come with drop brackets for the axle pivots so the truck can be aligned properly. Superlift, skyjacker, and about 20 other companies make lift kits for that truck. Of course, I wouldn't want to pay to ship it there.
However, I now have a couple of questions regarding shocks.
1. On the 92 F250s, were all four corner shocks the same (all 4 corners are single shock). They all look the same, but all identification has been dinted/chipped away to the point that they are almost unreadable. Without removing the from the vehicle, I can't quite tell.
2. How do you know when a shock requires replacement.
Thanks in advance
